Seven Days In the Art World by Sarah Thorton

For anyone interested in contemporary art this is a must read book. Though by my definition of great writing – that the writing is so good, the reader enjoys the book despite having absolutely no interest in the subject – then by that standard this book fails. But if you do have an interest, then this book explains much of today’s art scene and will provoke much thought regarding what defines great art and and great artists.

Mixed Blood by Roger Smith

Wow, Lee Child on steroids.   This debut thriller set in Capetown, South Africa rockets along. It grabbed me on the first page and though not a pefect book – it certainly was the perfect escape for me.

My biggest criticism is that all the loose ends are tidied in too pat a manner.

I look forward to Mr. Smith’s next novel.
